Newnan Theatre Company will offer Musical Theatre Classes for elementary and middle school students in the fall!

Classes for elementary and middle school students will focus on staging a performance of “Yes, Virginia The Musical,” an original production based on a true story of 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, who wrote a letter to the New York Sun newspaper in 1897, inquiring about the existence of Santa Claus. This musical is part of Macy’s holiday “Believe” campaign, which supports Make-a-Wish®.

This performance-based class welcomes all levels of experience.  Students will learn many facets of theatre, including stage directions, vocal technique, choreography, character development, set design, costuming, and more. Each student will be able to perform.

The class will run for 14 weeks and will end with performances for friends, family, and the general public. By signing up for this class, you are committed to 14 weeks of rehearsals and must be available for the performances.  Payment will be accepted in two installments.

Classes begin on August 18 and 19.  Performances will be November 17 and 18.

The middle school class (grades 6, 7, and 8) will meet on Mondays from 4:30-6:30. (Note: There will not be class on Monday, September 1, and Monday, October 13.)

The elementary class (grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30.
